from 4259 reviewsi purchased the first generation a few years back, and it was...a train wreck. I'm happy to say, the new generation is a massive improvement. I've had it for well over a month now, and no complaints. No clogging issues, solid hot foam delivered every time. Machine has replaced me having to pre-heat a stone bowl to generate a good lather.
The site is easy to navigate. I wish the reviews were easier to find but the layout is friendly, the product descriptions are excellent.
I have a few razors. Straights, single-edge razors, GEM razors, Artist Club shavettes, and cartridge razors. I've been "wet shaving" for many years. The Element is neck and neck with the other best razor, the Genesis. The thicker blade provides a smoother, more comfortable shave. The pivot is helpful. The weight is perfect. So is the grip. Shaving feels almost effortless and I get no nicks and only a few weepers that were from pressing. My only issue is that getting the blades out of the Element can be fiddly. This razor is perfect and if it isn't it'll do until a perfect razor gets here.
A very easy website to use. One burning question: if the Dawn's head is the same as the Genesis, why not buy a Dawn and a Genesis to have a backup for the Genesis instead of the zinc alloy Element? I'd be ready to pay the extra for the Dawn for a metal that's durable.
I can't give this razor and blade combo an accurate review yet because I just had my first shave with it. So this is preliminary. But I know more about "wet shaving" than I care to admit. I've been using DE razors for over two decades. I occasionally use a straight or a shavette with an Artist Club or Kai blade. I also use single edge razors ranging from vintage Schicks to the Blackland Vector and the RazorRock Hawk 2.0.
My first shave with the Element was pretty great. I was getting used to the razor, the pivot, the angle. It was very forgiving and, in two passes, one with the grain, one against, I got a BBS shave. (I rarely go XTG as I find it unnecessary.) I'm eager to keep learning how to use it.
My first real razor was a Gillette Atra. The pivoting head is a callback to that. I like it. The build quality is excellent. I do with the head were other than zinc alloy but we'll see if it lasts.
The reason I waited years to buy one of these is the Feather blades you had to use. I disliked that on principle and economically--they are said to dull after two shaves. I'm eager to see how long the carbon steel blade lasts.
My one complaint is that it's not that easy to remove the blade. I lift it but it doesn't come out so easily. And getting it locked in is easier but not effortless. Removing the blade, though, is the challenge.
Great experience
Fantastic product. There are no quality hot shave lather products on the market — this is the one!
Excellent product
Great razor. Substantial, super high quality. Worth the investment.
Great experience.
I was pretty nervous to try a single blade razor.
A lot of my friends have started using them recently though, saying it's totally transformational for reducing razor burn and in growns so I decided to give th Dawn shot on their recommendation.
And I was even more nervous when I opened the box because the blade is SUPER sharp. Looks pretty terrifying. But I watched a few videos on how to properly use it and then tested it out on my legs to start with.
Amazing! Really, really simple and my legs have never been smoother. I'm starting to see what all the hype is about.
My husband has had a genesis for years and loves it. I was in Target about to buy myself another pack of Venus cartridges when I figured I'd try the Dawn instead.
I didn't love my first shave with it, but my husband said I should give it at least 3 shaves before I returned it. Second time was much better. Easier to use and I was much more comfortable with it. At first, it can be a little intimidating because the blades are so sharp. But now that I'm used to it, my legs turn out super smooth every time. And I think I've noticed less irritation in my bikini line. I've never really had any issues, but would occasionally get bumps.
Had it for a few weeks and I love it - wouldn't go back to Venus.
Surprised at how much I enjoy using this. It works great and the lather is fantastic. I don't shave every day, but when I do, I turn this on, hop in the shower and then it's ready to go when I get out. Great addition to my OneBlade razors.
OneBlade's Small Batch Shaving Cream is certainly the cat's meow!
Rich, smooth creamy and aroma-friendly.
My face thanks me every time I slather this creamy gold on it!
Blades are very good and sharp!
